What we record
Each record contains only minimal factual metadata needed for discovery: pattern name, maker, garment category, original URL, recommended fabric groups, supported width groups, skill band and an approximate discovery range. We do not host pattern files, copy pattern instructions or reproduce pattern photography.
The 100-point rule score

Scores of 85-100 are labeled Strong Match, 70-84 Good Match, and 55-69 Possible Match. Anything below 55 or with an incompatible fabric family is hidden.
Why yardage is a range
A single pattern can require different lengths for every size, view and fabric width. Directional prints, nap, shrinkage, pattern matching and cutting layout add more variation. The displayed range is deliberately described as a discovery range. The original pattern page remains the final authority.
Confidence labels
- Medium: the original page or an established roundup supports the main compatibility facts, but users must still verify their size and view.
- Low: one or more planning values are conservative editorial estimates and should receive extra scrutiny.
Source and rights policy
Pattern metadata is curated from publicly visible original pattern pages and relevant designer roundups. Only factual fields needed for linking and comparison are retained. Pattern names and linked content remain the property of their respective owners. Fabric guides use original explanatory text informed by textile manufacturers and established sewing education resources.
Known limitations
- Body size is not scored yet.
- Broad categories such as “other stable cotton woven” receive related-family points rather than an exact match.
- The initial catalog is concentrated on free Mood Sewciety patterns, so maker diversity is limited.
- Print direction, nap and shrinkage are warnings, not calculated inputs.
